Prepare for Your Delivery

While you wait, here's everything you need to know about getting your container delivered and set up.

🚚Delivery and Placement Considerations

Choosing the right delivery method

For shipping container delivery, there are several options available depending on your property and requirements:

  • Tilt tray trucks - Ideal for easy unloading in open spaces with plenty of clearance. The container slides off the back of the truck smoothly.
  • Side loaders - Work well for tight spaces where precision is key. Perfect for narrow driveways or positioning close to existing structures.
  • Flatbed trailers - Best suited for crane-assisted unloading, typically used when the container needs to be placed in a difficult-to-access location.

The method you choose should align with your available space and budget. Our team will help you select the best option when we call you back.

🏗️Site Preparation Before Delivery

Getting your site ready

Before the delivery of your container, ensure the site is prepared properly to avoid any issues:

Level ground is essential

The surface needs to be level to avoid shifting or warping of the container over time. Even a slight slope can cause doors to stick or water to pool inside.

Foundation options

Consider laying a stable foundation using:

  • Gravel beds - Provides excellent drainage and a stable base
  • Railway sleepers - Creates a solid, level platform
  • Concrete blocks - We can supply these with your container if required

Drainage considerations

Check for drainage issues to avoid flooding, as water accumulation can damage your container over time and cause mould. Ensure water can run away from the container, not towards it.

📏Access and Clearance Requirements

Space for delivery vehicles

It's essential to ensure that there's adequate space for the delivery vehicles to manoeuvre smoothly. Our delivery trucks need sufficient room to position your container safely and accurately.

Check for obstructions

Take note of potential obstructions that could prevent the container from being positioned correctly:

  • Overhead power lines - Most delivery methods require at least 7 metres overhead clearance
  • Trees and branches - May need trimming to allow truck access and prevent damage to your container
  • Fences and gates - Ensure gates are wide enough (typically need 3+ metres) and can be fully opened or temporarily removed
  • Neighbouring structures - Consider proximity to boundary fences, sheds, or other buildings

Send us photos if you're unsure

If you have any concerns about access, our drivers are experienced in handling tricky deliveries. Feel free to send photos of your property when we contact you, and we'll advise on the best approach.
